Vandana Shiva, the prominent Indian eco-feminist scholar and activist, would be releasing the  “Appeal to the Conscience of the Nation on Koodankulam” this Sunday – May 20th at 6 PM at the India Gate in New Delhi.

The appeal, endorsed by eminent Indian citizens like Prashant Bhushan, Vandana Shiva, Aruna Roy, Binayak Sen, Anand Patwardhan, Admiral Ramdas, Lalita Ramdas, Narayan Desai, Surendra Gadekar, EAS Sharma,  Ilina Sen, Sandeep Pandey, Aruna Rodrigues, Praful Bidwai, P M Bhargava, Achin Vanaik, Gnani Sankaran urges ‘the conscience of the nation’ – the people of India – to demand that the government immediately stops intimidating and harassing peaceful protesters in Koodankulam and puts a moratorium on reactor projects in the country and engages all sections of Indian people democratically in a wider consultation on the expansion of nuclear energy.

This national appeal on Koodankulam would also be released at Chaityahoomi at Dadar in Mumbai on the same evening by famous peace activist and film-maker Anand Patwardhan and Dr. Binayak Sen, the prominent human rights activist. Events to present the appeal before common people are being planned also in Kolkata, Pune, Hyderabad and Chennai.
