Yami Lester, an indefatigable champion of indigenous people’s voice against the devastating effects of nuclear tests on aboriginal land in Australia by the United Kingdom, passed away last week. Having been a witness and victim himself of the radioactive cloud, he fought relentlessly for decades against silence and censorship.
His daughter Karina Lester is also a leading activist in Australia, at the forefront of struggles against nuclear racism and radioactive contamination. We express our deepest condolences and stand with the family, friends and comrades of Uncle Yami Lester.
