Dilution of Nuclear Liability: Open Letter from Admiral Ramdas to the PM
PRIME MINISTER’S IMPENDING VISIT TO AMERICA AND IMPLICATIONS FOR OUR NUCLEAR LIABILITY ACT
PRIME MINISTER’S IMPENDING VISIT TO AMERICA AND IMPLICATIONS FOR OUR NUCLEAR LIABILITY ACT
It is with deep anguish that I write to you, once again, to draw your attention to matters that affect the safety of our people in light of the latest revelations regarding the Koodankulam Nuclear Power Plant in Tamil Nadu. Frankly I hesitated to write, since my recent letters to did not seem to merit a serious response from your office.
I have witnessed the hazards of nuclear energy from close quarters, both in and out of uniform, and have no doubt in my mind that we need to find safe, abundant renewable energy to meet our developmental goals. Fortunately technologies are now available , especially solar, which are both cost effective and feasible.
I write this with a deep sense of sadness and grief. Many of us from all over the country were in Kudamkulam just the other day namely on 15 and 16 March, and the entire gathering of common people-primarily women – was as always a very inspiring experience.
