Overturning Dr. S P Udayakumar’s decision today, the villagers in Idinthakarai ensured that he doesn’t offer himself to be arrested by the police. In a marathon meeting that went on for almost whole day, people resolved that the leaders, against whom the government has put fictitious  police charges, will not surrender.

The meeting was emotionally charged: women and men cried requesting the leaders not to offer themselves to the barbaric police. They have vowed that the leading activists will be allowed to be arrested only after everybody else is. With this, people’s massive and peaceful struggle in Koodankulam stands to be further intensified in the days ahead.
