Koodankulam Solidarity Protest Planned This Week in Frankfurt, Germany

We are organizing an ANTI-NUCLEAR BICYCLE DEMO on September 29, 2012 to visit some of Germany’s nuclear profiteers.

Start: Saturday, Sept. 29th, 11:00h (Kurfürstenplatz, Bockenheim, Frankfurt/Main)

Solidarity with struggles in Jaitapur and Kudankulam will be an issue. Also repression against Indian activists will be condemned.

The office of the Indian Consulate General will be one stop of this anti-nuclear bicycle demo apart from UG’s headquarters and banks which support nuclear industry.

The Indian Consul already got very nervous and ordered the German police to seal off the whole area, though we are very peaceful.

Frankfurt is home to Urangesellschaft MbH, a 100% subsidiary of AREVA, the French company which is building 6 EPRs in Jaitapur on India’s East Coast. Activists in Germany have been protesting against Urangesellschaft MbH for a long time and have been demanding its closure. In a recent anti-Areva protest at the Frankfurt International Airport, the German activists raised their voice against nuclear projects in India and deportation of German national Hermann Sontagg Rainer from Koodankulam.

The anti-nuclear bicycle demo will be held on a route which includes Areva’s subsidiary’s office, the Indian consulate, and financial banks which supports nuclear industry.
